WEBINAR: 10 months on from Brexit- where are we now?
October 27 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Ten months on from Brexit – we are seeing a set of challenges and opportunities facing the life science sector, a time of technological change across fields like biotech, medtech and AI.
Among the specific challenges are the new, dual systems for mainland UK and Northern Ireland, with NI needing to apply regulations flowing from Brussels. Sales in NI may require new Economic Operator arrangements, for example.
Alongside these challenges, the UK is finding its feet in developing its own systems and structures. Opportunities like a more flexible and permissive regulatory model, involving acceptance of goods approved elsewhere subject to proportionate, risk-based controls, could see a reduced regulatory burden, especially for smaller innovators. The fresh approach proposed in the Taskforce on Innovation, Growth and Regulatory Reform report offers a prospect of real benefits to industry.
Businesses across the sector also continue to face challenges and opportunities in recruiting and retaining talented staff. These include the new (but continually) evolving points based immigration system, competition for the best people, and staff engagement – all in the context of new ways of working as we begin to emerge from the Covid-19 lockdown.
Join Mills & Reeve at this webinar to hear from James Fry and Isabel Teare as they consider the above challenges plus providing the opportunity for you to ask questions.
